”I’m absolutely happy with the agreement with Sony. It was the perfect move,” said Cage. ”It was the right platform for what we wanted to achieve. It was the platform with the Blu-ray disc, promoting movies, promoting a more sophisticated entertainment experience.”
Heavy Rain has been a good first-party success for Sony and Quantic but the decision or whether or not they’ll still with just PS3 hasn’t been determined yet for their next project. There are many factors to consider for the studio.
”With Heavy Rain it was right, but after Heavy Rain the question can be asked whether we should stick to one platform or open out to different platforms,” he said.
“Now that we’re established why are we limiting ourselves to one share of the market when we can reach more? There are pros and cons, and it’s not an easy decision.” As of August Heavy Rain has sold over 1.5m copies having released in February of this year. A PlayStation Move supported version will release later in 2010.
Quantic Dream is now working two very different projects teases Cage, and one was rumoured to be a sci-fi title codenamed Horizon. This doesn’t exist apparently.
