Stronghold 4 is the latest instalment of the renowned castle sim/strategy game that lets players build and manage their own medieval settlement. It’s being developed and published by original creators Firefly Studios and includes a story campaign alongside several multiplayer game modes.
Stronghold 4 Release Date
Firefly Studios intends to release Stronghold 4 into early access before the end of 2026. The developers haven’t set a concrete date yet, though, only that it’ll be available on PC via Steam.
“The Early Access version of Stronghold 4 showcases the core content, foundations and mechanics needed for a fulfilling modern Stronghold game experience,” Firefly said on the game’s Steam page. “This includes a prequel story campaign of 22 missions, full skirmish mode with 8 unique CPU opponents, a Free Build sandbox mode and a curated skirmish trail of bespoke scenarios.”
Stronghold 4 System Requirements
Firefly has already revealed the minimum and recommended specifications for any gamers wondering “Can I run it?” Stronghold 4 is built in Unreal Engine 5 but with an eye towards being kind to players with lower-spec machines.

Firefly Studios recently celebrated Stronghold 4 receiving 500,000 wishlists by debuting the above story trailer, and there’s a demo available that gives players a taste of what to expect. The full 1.0 release will include full online multiplayer, an economic campaign, and co-op Skirmish Trail.
