Is Ubisoft set to retread the past? If For Honor player numbers are anything to go by, then yes. Yes they are. They've stooped even lower. According to GitHyp - a site that tracks the mass appeal of big-budget titles - Ubisoft's 2017 melee combat brawler has seen player levels drop by more than what The Division - another Ubisoft multiplayer game - saw in a fraction of the time.
Despite The Lacking Numbers, Ubisoft Is Still Commited To Updating For Honor
Carrying upward of 54k concurrent users back at launch, Ubisoft's once promising take on brutal online melee combat has drifted down to a lacklustre 2.7k. While that's not as small as Season 1's 2.2k playerbase, it's quickly shedding those who returned once Season 2 fired up. It goes to show that 2017 has just seen too many high-value games release week after week to sustain something with such limited appeal. Paired with Ubisoft's launch issues and reluctancy to fix them in a timely manner, we can imagine most players ran off to their backlog or to the countless other multiplayer gems popping up in recent months. It's a tough market.
