PlaySide is set to release Game of Thrones: War for Westeros on PC in 2027, and at launch it'll come with four factions you can control. Each comes with multiple controllable heroes and units that will be familiar to anyone who's watched the HBO series. Here's what we know so far:
House Stark
Jon Snow, Robb Stark, Ghost and Grey Wind are all playable characters for this faction, with the majority of developer updates focusing on Snow. PlaySide Studios describe him as a a frontline leader who rallies nearby troops. Full faction units have yet to be revealed, but PlaySide has said that every house has what it calls a high-impact "trump card"; House Stark has access to Giants, for example, whose attacks can launch enemy units into the air.
House Lannister
The officially revealed heroes for this House include Jaime Lannister and Tywin Lannister. PlaySide describes Tywin as a commander who coordinates battlefield tactics and pushes the Lannister war machine to its full potential. Each House has its own troops and equipment, and one of House Lannister's most useful contraptions is set to be the catapult.
House Targaryan
The only confirmed hero character for this House that's been revealed so far is none other than Daenerys Targaryen. PlaySide has shown this faction's heavy unit in action: a dragon, that can be used to incinerate enemy troops. Developer and gameplay videos have also revealed that House Targaryan gets access to Unsullied soldiers.
The Night King
Perhaps the most exciting faction on offer in Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is The Night King. The developers have said that every House has its own unique units with none of them being simple reskins, and that asymmetrical gameplay is a core component of each faction. The Night King looks to present the most interesting mechanic as PlaySide has clearly said that he can grow an army of White Walkers as you play, although full details of this ability, and which units it can affect, have yet to be shown.
