GameWatcher looks into the online multiplayer availability of Supermassive Games’ sci-fi horror Directive 8020.
The newest entry in the Until Dawn developers’ Dark Pictures series of choice-based horror games departs from Earth and takes us to a whole new world where a crashed colony ship’s crew must do battle with an organism capable of mimicking its prey. Who can you trust when anyone could be a hidden threat?
The beauty of the Dark Pictures series is that you can play the games with friends, each controlling a particular character and shaping their fates.
In previous entries, you could play together like this offline in pass-the-pad multiplayer, but also do the same online. But does Directive 8020 retain this feature? If so, when will it arrive?
Directive 8020 Online Multiplayer Status
The bad news is there’s only local five-player support for Directive 8020 at launch, so you’ll need your pals close as you decide who lives or dies in the paranoia-fuelled story of terror.
But Supermassive is not abandoning the online version of the multiplayer found in previous Dark Pictures games. No, it will be bringing five-player online multiplayer to Directive 8020 in a free post-launch update.
When exactly? Well, the developer has promised we’ll find out fairly soon after launch.
Once we have more information, we’ll update this article, so keep an eye out on GameWatcher for the latest on Directive 8020’s online multiplayer status.
In the meantime, discover the latest mods for Directive 8020 to get the game running on PC exactly how you want it to.
