If you’ve taken the plunge and jumped into Subnautica 2’s enchanting but dangerous waters, you might need some help finding necrolei cysts for strong acid. Here’s where you can find and harvest them.
After a long time in closed development, Subnautica 2 has finally hit early access on PC (Steam & Epic) and Xbox, instantly becoming a massive hit. With optional co-op multiplayer and character skills as its key new features, the sequel also gets a major glow-up in terms of graphics while retaining the stylish original aesthetic. So far, we’re happy with the game’s debut, but the developers are only getting started…
Finding necrolei cysts in Subnautica 2
Necrolei cysts in Subnautica 2 aren’t required for early-game crafting, but you’ll soon need them to craft an important part of the tadpole vehicle.
Thankfully, while not super abundant, necrolei cysts aren’t a really rare resource either. You’ll just need to swim between 350 to 400 meters away from the starting lifepod, facing the northwest direction. There are other relevant signals/key points closer to this area, but this is the clearest route to them.
The necrolei cysts are found inside spherical green plants with pink tendrils. They’re hard to miss due to their striking appearance, but they’re often found hiding between larger plants and you might have to dive down a bit too. In my experience, advanced diving gear isn’t required to reach them.
How to farm necrolei cysts in Subnautica 2
To obtain the cysts inside the aforementioned plants, you’ll need to approach and whack them with the survival multitool. That’s it.
Only two necrolei cysts are required to craft one container of acid, but I highly suggest stocking up since they’re not the most abundant material on the ocean floor. You might find necrolei cysts in other locations, and they’ll “respawn” quite often, but make good use of each trip.
