In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, WoW director Jeffrey Kaplan hinted that the future MMO the guys are working on could touch on consoles too.
He dismissed the idea of World of Warcraft making a home outside the PC saying he doesn’t think it ”would really work that well on the console”. At least for now.
”Well, we definitely aren’t adapting ‘World of Warcraft’ to the console at this time,” Kaplan replied.
The games coming from Blizzard just work better on PC he explains, the teams do love consoles too.
”So I don’t think ‘World of Warcraft’ would really work that well on the console,” he continued, ”but that’s not to say that other MMOs couldn’t.”
”And we have a pretty savvy group of console developers — a lot of the guys we inherited from Swingin’ Ape really know what they’re doing on next-gen consoles. So we might have a few tricks up our sleeves in that regard.”
Of course its way to early to tell right now if Blizzard would come out swinging on both PC and console but with Diablo 3 getting increasing ‘friendlier’ to the notion of the console it’s not an unthinkable end result.
