No that’s not some slur on the publishing giant about industry monopolising, but the announcement of a new kind of virtual Monopoly board game.
This is a new fast-paced breed of property tycoon, the new family mode will feature loads of mini-games - the original might be in there somewhere too.
‘The Richest’ is the mode which will last for about 20 to 30 minutes of gameplay for the family. Basically your goal is still to get stinking rich but the assets are everything and the only form of currency. Landing on a blank spot will net you the property but if you end up on someone else’s then you trade give them one of your properties as the rent.
No monetary red tape will certainly speed things up. There’s still crazier doings a foot, mini-games to the theme of the community chest or chance cards will determine how many multiple spaces you’ll get to land on in one roll of the die.
Madness! The greatest enjoyment of EA’s new Monopoly will be best on the Nintendo Wii says creative director Matt Birch, ”the game is definitely leading on the Wii.”
The game will be available on PC, PS2, Wii and Xbox360 later this year.
