Getting Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 players online together is a valuable idea to be ”working on and looking at” admits Valve’s Doug Lombardi.
For the moment it’s just something they’re ”trying to work out” and so there’s ”nothing specific” to be announced. Already original L4D mods are said to be sequel friendly.
”That’s something that we’re trying to work out the details of right now,” said Lombardi to TotalVideoGames, speaking on a demand of the fans.
”So nothing specific to say today, but we understand that it’s a very valid thing to be working on and looking at.” Mods have already been confirmed as needing little work to be made Left 4 Dead 2 compatible, much to community delight.
”With the MOD stuff, if you’re making stuff for Left 4 Dead it will work in Left 4 Dead 2 with very minor amounts of work to bring it over. So we feel we’ve made good steps on that side and now we’re looking at how we manage that for folks who buy the first game and sequel.”
Do you have faith Valve can pull off some cross-play for Left 4 Dead fans? It would certainly go a long way in placating the L4D2 Boycott squad. The game launches on November 17th.
