Valve has revealed that Left 4 Dead 2 has an absolute ‘no pansy’ mode of play, designed purely for gamers who like to ride on the edge of insane difficulty, mooning newbs.
They used Portal as an example, whereby their ”best internal players” could run through in 30 minutes. Then along came YouTube clips of 10 minute runs. ”Realism is for those players.”
”Take Portal for example: We had our best internal players who could blow through that game in about 30 minutes, but within weeks of launching it we had people on YouTube beating times by 10 minutes or more. Realism is for those players,” Valve’s Doug Lombardi tells 1UP, after they spotted the Realism Mode that was supposed to be hidden.
This revelation comes after the newly announced ‘Scavenge’ mode for Left 4 Dead 2, where the survivors must quickly collect sixteen gas cans to power up a generator, with the Infected obviously hindering their efforts. All this is timed with each can worth 2 minutes more.
