In a revelation unlikely to shock anyone, the Guitar Hero franchise is one b*tchin’ machine for Activision Blizzard, with it the number one property in Europe.
There’s new Guitar Hero for DS coming as well more for consoles in ‘09. The publisher can’t wait for DJ Hero to arrive and predicts it’ll innovate. More Euro bands to be included.
Acti announced the Guitar Hero franchise will receive a ”major re-staging” come Q4 2009, whatever that means.
It now has a 32 million install base worldwide said the publisher, and whooped Rock Band four-to-one in the US despite a few supply shortages. The holidays in Europe saw a drool worthy 122% increase in sales for Guitar Hero.
Ever the optimist for their rocking creation, Acti Blizz expect the install base for the music kit game to grow by 53 million this year thanks to the IP’s broadening appeal and demographic.
Cunningly they’ve decided to cram in more European bands to help push even more sales in Euroland for Guitar Hero; such dastardly thinking. The next big instalment is Guitar Hero: Metallica which is being released this March.
