Resistance developer Insomniac Games enjoy ”a great relationship” with Sony and won’t be leaving them, or platform exclusivity, ”for the foreseeable future.”
Sony ”bends over backwards” to work with studios, and team Insomniac ”absolutely love” them for it. The corporate giants PR machine is ”terrific to work with” and also ”very creative”.
The days of rampant exclusivity are dying down as more and more developers break away - like Bungie from Microsoft - and instead prefer to spread their wings on many platforms.
”Sure, as an independent developer, you do consider those options - but at the same time we do have a great relationship with Sony,” said Insomniac’s Ryan Schneider to GamesIndustry.biz.
”Sony bends over backwards to work with its development teams. Their product development team is second to none - we absolutely love working with them. Their PR and marketing folks are terrific to work with and very dedicated to the cause, and there are some very creative people there,” he continued.
”We feel very fortunate to have that sort of relationship in place.” There you have it, Insomniac hearts Sony and that isn’t going to change any time soon. ”Sony’s very open when it comes to strategy and communicating with regard to where they’re at, where they’re headed, what our role as a studio is within that greater framework. We definitely feel like we’re in the loop.”
What studio, if any, would you love to see break away and flip the finger to platform exclusivity?
