Capcom’s Resi Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata has said the next iteration could eat up eight years, if they plan on doing a number six that is.
They ”haven’t decided” if Resi Evil 6 is on the books yet, and that ”hopefully only four” years will be needed to make it if they do. Capcom have already said the franchise is rebooting.
While Resident Evil 5 doesn’t seem quite a critically popular as number 4 was - surely Capcom have no desire to let the franchise just wither on the vine now? ”We haven’t decided whether we’re going to make Resident Evil 6 yet. But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years, but hopefully only four,” the exec tells The Gadget Show.
This latest Resident Evil is meant to be the new direction for the veteran property, ditching the traditional survival horror theme for more action and Jack Bauer like drama.
