Microsoft has announced that Peter Jackson and Halo are still on but they’re busy elsewhere for the moment, despite the director’s ‘not happening’ comment earlier.
The corporate giant is ”deeply committed” to expanding the Halo name as you might expect, and they ”greatly value” their relationship with Jackson. Both companies agreed to hold off.
”Microsoft Game Studios is deeply committed to supporting and strategically growing the Halo franchise, and our relationship with Peter and his team is something that we greatly value,” Microsoft told Joystiq.
”Given the bandwidth of both of our companies we’ve decided to put this joint effort on hold and prioritize resources against other projects like Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo Legends.”
This is at odds with Peter Jackson’s own statement on the ‘joint effort’: ”That Halo project is no longer happening, it sort of collapsed when the movie didn’t end up happening.” Looks like we’ll have to endure yet more rumours and speculation for who knows how long about this.
