Buffalo’s two drives are both 500GB, which gear up in preparation for Sony’s launch of the ‘Torne’ digital video recorder in March for PS3.
This is the first time ever that Sony has given the nod to third-party hard drive peripherals say Buffalo, reports Andriasang. There are two models, the first being the Piano Black HD-AV500U2/SC which sits horizontally with a fancy blue lit storage meter.
The second is a vertical standing Black HD-CL500U2/SC with no front meter showing storage space left. Both devices have to meet certain standards for Sony, so both are pre-formatted to work straight away with the PlayStation 3 when connected.
It should be noted that the PS3 works with external hard drives anyway, they might just need some fiddling with by the user first is all. These Buffalo units cost 14,800 and 11,800 in Yen respectively, which is around £103 and £82.
Do you already have an external hard drive hooked up, videogamer?
