Boss Strauss Zelnick believes this is way better for the ”next generation of sandbox”, affording them more marketing and game polish.
The western cowboy sandbox romp will no longer be hitting stores April 27th in the US and April 30th in Europe, but now on May 18th and May 21st respectively.
”We’ve also taken important steps to improve the efficiency of our business and align our corporate cost structure more closely with our current goals,” said Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick, reports VG247. “Our updated outlook for 2010 underscores a prudent approach toward what we still believe to be a challenging year ahead.”
“We remain committed to creating long term value, and continuing to improve upon our execution and efficiency.” This slip into May is to give them more time for heavier marketing and Rockstar San Diego extra weeks for polish - the usual reasons.
”We shifted the launch of the game by several weeks into the third quarter,” added CEO Ben Feder. “We believe this is the optimal time frame to release what is being hailed as the next generation of sandbox games.”
Red Dead Redemption releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 May 21st internationally. This all joins news that other major Rockstar and T2 titles have hit delays to fiscal Q4.
