CES 2010 has revealed a partnership between Razer, Sixense and Valve - they all want to ”truly revolutionize” how PC games can be played.
The PC motion tech they’re working on is hyper sensitive and can detect movement in all six axes. Don’t believe me? ”…ultra-precise one-to-one motion sensing controllers that use electromagnetic fields to track precise movements along all six axes.” There!
The controllers can keep tabs on their precise orientation within a single degree, and amazingly detect positioning to one millimetre. It will support current and future PC titles as well they say - so no waiting for launch titles or anything silly.
Valve’s Chet Faliszek says ”…this release represents motion-enabled gaming that’s more integrated and visceral than any platform has so far achieved.” It’s on show at CES 2010 with Left 4 Dead 2 and a prototype controller. Steam already has the software kit.
Sixense man Avi Arad believes it will ”not only enhance the entire gaming experience, but will truly revolutionize how games are played on the PC.” I guess the PC crowd got tired of all the consoles having fun with motion - if you want something done right…
