A few years ago however, rumours surfaced that Blizzard might make a ‘Warcraft IV’. Now, with BlizzCon only a few weeks away, those rumours have returned, and there’s even talk of the game being officially announced this year.
Videogames website VGtribune has been doing some digging, and they’ve reportedly found out several ‘facts’ with regards to Warcraft IV. We’re contacting Blizzard ourselves about these, but until something official surfaces from them, treat the following with a hefty pinch of salt:
* Episodic campaign was considering – no word on what they decided.
* Thrall is “currently” in it.
* The game is planned “tentatively” for a Q4 2012 release.
* It's an RTS based on the Starcraft II engine.
* Its being considered for multiple platforms like the 360 and PS3, but DS has actually been
started on.
* It now finally has a team working on it since Starcraft is out.
* It's still very early stages and the concept art looks “beautiful”.
VGtribune obtained this information from a ”trusted source”, however they don’t think we’ll be seeing anything of Warcraft IV this year. With a (supposedly) Q4 2012, it’s a bit early to have anything tangible to show anyway.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
