115.3m PS3 games sold during the 12 month period. The Network Product and Services division, which includes PlayStation, posted a loss.
PSP sales fell to 44.4m down from the previous year’s 50.3m, with PS2 suffering the greatest descent to 35.7m from a lofty 83.5m. Sony believes sales will remain relatively similar across all three of their platforms this fiscal.
That aside the corporate giant are confident they’ll ”increase significantly” the amount of cash they pull in. ”Sony also plans to aggressively launch 3D-related products, network services and other new business with the aim of future growth,” said a statement.
Unfortunately the PlayStation business, part of Sony’s Network Product and Services division, posted a loss of £597m - though this is up ¥4.4 billion from the previous year’s mega loss for Sony - always look for that silver lining.
Overall Sony can say they’ve made a profit, albeit a slim margin of £228.1m. Still a razor sharp profit is better than none at all like in fiscal 2009 - a very bad Sony year.
