If ”enough people” are interested in seeing Purgatory or Paradiso, the other Divine Comedy chapters, then they ”would make that game.” EA ‘no pressure’.
Mumbach dispels any rumour that they’ve a team exploring a sequel to Dante’s Inferno. ”I’m sure that if enough people are like, ‘I got 60 dollars for Purgatory or Paradiso,’ then we would make that game. But I don’t know. I don’t get to make those decisions,” he said.
That’s not because they’re being told their focus is the far more successful Dead Space IP, as EA doesn’t dictate what to put out. ”I think they do a real good job. I’ve never felt like, ‘We should be doing this, but EA is making us do that,’” commented Mumbach.
“Especially since JR’s come on board. JR’s like ‘Make good games. I need good games, give me good games.’” JR is of course EA CEO John Riccitiello.
Dead Space 2 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC January 25th, 2011. Dead Space: Ignition is out now on Xbox Live and PSN.
