The PlayStation 3 tech has a ”very high peak performance,” and the more you experiment with it ”the better it performs.” No US or EU date yet.
”It is about the same for the PS3, about 80 percent of the processing power. The PS3 hardware has a very high peak performance. The better you manipulate it, the better it performs,” Yamauchi-san told VentureBeat, asked if Polyphony used anywhere near as much processing power as Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
”We had maybe 300 polygons in a car in the first game. Now we have about 500,000 polygons in each car. Back then, pieces of the car were more like symbols. Now they are real and reflect light,” said GT’s creator, talking on the game’s detail.
Gran Turismo 5 is releasing exclusively on PS3 with a US and EU launch date ”in due course,” say Sony Europe. It’s been delayed in Japan for an isolated reason.
