John Carmack of id Software reveals he has "an itch to make a Kinect title" but admits he has no idea "what I'd want to do yet." No Doom or RAGE. Sorry but "real games" in the id collection won't fit; "there just isn't a place" for their FPSes. Whatever it is though it will be on the scale of an iOS device. "I have an itch to make a Kinect title for Xbox Live," confessed id boss John Carmack. "I don't even know what I'd want to do yet." Right now the studio has got RAGE and the recently announced Doom 4 in the pipeline so they're very busy. "I can't use Kinect for our real games; there just isn't a place for our current FPSes on there," he said. "But it's an interesting technology, and an Xbox Live game would be the perfect platform to do something like that on, at about the same scale of an iOS device." Surely now that Doom's creators are piqued by Kinect you can be too? |
