He’s been ”actively involved” in the games world for 15 years, and so he’s got a ”very good appreciation” for developer needs and concerns.
”In the future I want to be developing intellectual properties that will occupy both spaces simultaneously,” Anderson told MTV Multiplayer, reports Eurogamer. To videogamers out there you might have heard of those Resident Evil movies he directed.
Resident Evil: Afterlife is the next one in the works and packs 3D viewing. ”I’ve been actively involved in the gaming world for 15 years now, talking to developers ever since ‘Mortal Kombat,’ so I think I have a very good appreciation for what their needs and what their concerns are,” stated the Hollywood moving picture maker.
”I think I really do know how to join the two medias, together in a successful way, and that’s what I’ll be working on in the next few years.” Nothing will be kicking off just yet in his new venture as he first has his sights on Buck Rogers, that old sci-fi gem.
”‘Buck Rogers’ is something that’s starting from ground zero right now, so that’s definitely something that I would be considering doing. Really my approach to bridging the two medias is from ‘Buck’ onwards,” Anderson added.
The Buck Rogers movie has a tentative 2011 release date. Let’s hope that Resi Evil lover Anderson can pull off something way better than James Cameron and Ubisoft did with the videogame adaptation of Avatar. Have you enjoyed the Resi Evil films?
