Both are locked at the game’s beginning and must be earned with Player Points. Akuma is worth 2,000 PP while Taskmaster is at much heftier 8,000 PP.
Apparently a run through MvC3’s Arcade mode will net you around 2,000 PP so Akuma won’t be too difficult to get hold of. Multiplayer, character challenges and even training mode all earn Player Points. Two more for the roster are yet to be named.
