Rockstar’s VP of product development Jeronimo Barrera revealed in an interview that L.A. Noire originally had a “force” option for Cole Phelps, which would allow him to rough up suspects, but the option was dropped because players used it too much.
“The team did experiment with implementing a ‘force’ option that would encourage Phelps to get physical during the interrogations,” Barrera related, “”But often when we tested, players would go for that option first, locking themselves out of any opportunity to actually get to the truth.”
“Beating up a witness would almost certainly be a much less reliable way of getting evidence than TV shows might lead you to believe” Barrera added.
L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition will be arriving for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America on 15th November and 18th November worldwide, while the PC version will be hitting Steam and OnLive on the 8th November in NA and 11th November worldwide.
