Both games focus on military and ranks in the World War I period. Fans were left perplexed when Trenched released on the US XBLA but not Europe.
Board game designer Rui Alípio Monteiro filed for the Trenched trademark in 2007 which covers board games and computer games. This means either a much longer than realised delay for Double Fine fans or a complete name change for an EU release.
It was rumoured that Germany was holding things up when a Nazi salute was discovered in-game but Double Fine squished the idea. Microsoft still state the delay is down to ”unexpected challenges with distribution”, which certainly covers trademarking.
It’s a mix of tower defence and third-person shooter. Trenched released on Xbox 360 in the US June 22nd. Europe will be twiddling thumbs for quite some more time yet.
