[UPDATE: Blizzard is disputing any release date has been created. According to a tweet by Blizzard community manager Micah Whipple, ”Diablo III does not have a release date. Any store or person claiming otherwise is guessing.”]
One has to wonder if South Korea’s reluctance to give Diablo III a rating is holding up Blizzard’s announcement of a February release date. Retailers in North America and Europe have started gearing up for a launch in early February before any notice from the publisher.
Electronics retailer Best Buy in North America has listed a 1st February release date for Diablo III, and has posted an in-store display promoting a midnight launch sale. The online site for Best Buy also lists a 1st February date.
UK retailer Gameplay lists a 3rd February release on its online site as well. Bear in mind, Diablo III is supposed to have a concurrent worldwide date, so either one of the retailers is wrong, or Blizzard won’t release the game globally on the same date.
