Activision has laid out its extensive plans for the next eight months of downloadable content releases for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which will begin on the 24th January and run through to September. The DLC will be completely free for Call of Duty: Elite premium members, while Xbox 360 premium members will receive the DLC first.
The “Modern Warfare 3 Content Season”, as Activision calls it, will purportedly have a broader scope and variety than any other Call of Duty game in history.
Activision announced the release schedule for the first five different content drops that will be landing in January, February and March.
The first two Content Drops feature multiplayer maps which will also playable in Modern Warfare 3’s Survival Mode. One of the maps is Liberation, which is set in a war-torn Central Park in New York City, providing a militarized landscape which invites long-range sniper and LMG fire, as well with mounted turrets on either end of the park. The other map is Piazza, an idyllic Italian getaway featuring tight corners and branching pathways, encouraging close-range combat and surprise attacks from any direction including from above or below.
The third Content Drop will be available for download in mid-February, with two additional Content Drops that will go live in March. If that weren’t enough, Activision will be celebrating the launch of each new content drop with specialized events for real-world prizes via Call of Duty: Elite.
The Modern Warfare 3 Content Season is co-developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software.
