It seems PlayStation owner Sony is looking to back those crazy cloud gaming ventures by snapping one of them up. It was thought of as just a partnership at first for streaming TV.
It seems they’re after a lot more than that. Apparently Sony will completely acquire a firm, and it’s ”close to being signed” a source tells MCV. It would rock the PlayStation community.
Should all this be true then Sony could deliver some very interesting features to PlayStation gamers, especially when the next generation arrives. PlayStation content without the PlayStation?
OnLive is the largest cloud gaming service available having launched in the US and UK, while Gaikai is operating with much less visibility by comparison. Both are partnered with big publishers to get their content streamed to users.
