Shuhei Yoshida has also confirmed that PS4 is ”region free”, followed by a smiley face. That means you can import a PS4 on the cheap. PS4 has ‘no DRM’ for used games.
The price for the next PlayStation has already been revealed as $399 in the US, so if a UK customer imported it then it would be around £250ish, instead of £349 domestically.
”And yes, PS4 is region free :D” tweeted Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida. The cheaper than Xbox One price announcement already has fans tearing up, but now this - coupled with their clear and concise game sharing guide - PlayStation is on fire with terrific news. Xbox One is region-locked and has an RRP of £429 in the UK.
PlayStation 4 also doesn’t require mandatory connections to the Internet, unlike Xbox One.
It’s safe to say the #PS4NoDRM campaign is a total success story. It’s like Sony want to impress us or something, just listen to the foaming-at-the-mouth applause in the clip below of Sony’s E3 2013 press conference.
