According to the press release, ”Take On Mars places you in the seat of a Rover Operator, allowing you to control the various, fully simulated mobile Rovers and stationary Landers. With this scientific arsenal at your disposal, you will work your way through the numerous Science Missions in each location, unlocking the secrets of Mars’ distant past.”
Players will run a science-driven space agency, where new tech, vehicles and other instruments will be developed to explore the surface of Mars. Players can either complete pre-made indivdual missions or create scenarios themselves with an in-game editor. Advanced modders will find the game easy to mod as well.
The game will stress realism, as the rover can suffer damage to cameras, robotic arms, even individual struts and wheels, which will have a profound effect on how the astronauts can explore the surface of the Red Planet, which has been accurately rendered based on actual satellite data.
