Myst and Riven developer Cyan has announced that its new first person adventure game Obduction achieved its $1.1M Kickstarter goal with two and a half days to go.
The first stetch goal lies at $1.3M, and will add virtual reality Oculus Rift support, as well as localization into other languages. If players somehow get the funding to $1.7M, the developer will add another world to the game hub, as well as a “road trip” mode.
Cyan describes “road trip” mode thusly: “We thought it would be fun to support that idea! Roadtrip Mode allows two people to share the exploration via the internet. One player would be the “driver” - moving and interacting, while the other player would be a “passenger” - following where the “driver” goes, but able to freely look around on their own computer. They will be able to talk with each other, offering advice or pointing out highlights. And the players can switch the “driver” and “passenger” whenever they want.”
Obduction is expected to be released in October 2015 for PC, Mac OS and Linux. Gamers interested in it can visit the Kickstarter page here.
