Should you pre-order Wolfenstein for Xbox 360 or PS3 then you’ll still get beta to Xbox One or PS4. Bethesda are also working on beta access for digital pre-orders.
They’re talking with Steam, Microsoft and Sony to sort out those who’d rather a digital release of Wolfenstein: The New Order. You’ll need an Xbox Live subscription for Xbox One.
Curiously there’s no need for a PlayStation Network subscription to eventually play the DOOM beta on PS4. Bethesda wouldn’t reveal how long they plan to run the beta for id Software’s next DOOM, nor the date it begins.
”DOOM beta access correlates to your pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order platform. If you purchase an Xbox 360 or Xbox One version of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will receive an invitation to the Xbox One DOOM beta. PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 purchasers will receive an invite to the PS4 DOOM beta. All PC purchases will receive an invite to the PC DOOM beta. The DOOM Beta will only be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC,” reveals an FAQ.
”We are working with Steam, Microsoft, and Sony to help ensure that persons pre-ordering digitally from Steam, Microsoft, and Sony will receive access to the DOOM beta. Other digital retailers’ processes and/or participation may vary.”
”An Xbox Live Gold membership is required for the Xbox One beta. A PSN Plus membership is NOT required for the PlayStation 4 beta,” they continued. The DOOM beta access codes are included on an insert in physical copies.
Wolfenstein: The New Order releases on PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4 May 20th.
