A development source has allegedly revealed that The Division is still some way from completion, and is unlikely to be ready for release until 2015.
Ubisoft Massive’s open-world action game was slated for a 2014 release, but according to Gamereactor an insider source from the studio has expressed serious doubt that the title will be ready to go this year.
”The game engine works well, it’s not done but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however,” the website quote their source as saying.
“The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It’s a large project, and we have very far to go.”
Although they’ve been fairly adamant that The Division would make 2014, Ubisoft are willing to push back titles that aren’t ready to go, as the recent delays of both the highly anticipated Watch Dogs and racing game The Crew have shown. It doesn’t seem promising that the source thinks Ubisoft’s release prediction is “laughable”, however. We’ll keep you updated.
