Life is Strange is a new episodic adventure game that is being developed by DONTNOD Entertainment (Remember Me) with Square Enix on publishing. It will be release digitally for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, although a release date is currently TBC.
Life is Strange is about a senior student called Max Caulfield who returns to her home town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, after a 5 year absence. Reunited with her former friend Chloe, the pair will attempt to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of fellow friend and student Rachel Amber.
The game features a hand-drawn art style and a choice and consequence type system that could be similar to what we see in Telltales popular Walking Dead series, as it plays a key role in how the narrative unfolds. What could make this title different though is the special power that allows Max to rewind time.
”Everybody at DONTNOD is excited to be working on such a refreshing title” said Jean-Max Moris, Creative Director at DONTNOD Entertainment. ”We’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity”.
”When we first saw LIFE IS STRANGE we immediately realised that DONTNOD have created a unique experience, something special” said Jon Brooke, VP Brand and European Marketing Square Enix Europe. ”Everyone who’s seen the game has instantly fallen in love with its distinctive style and mood”.
Life is Strange hasn’t been dated yet, but we do know that it will be released digitally and episodically for multiple platforms, including our favourite the PC.
