At this point I think I’ve killed zombies in absolutely every way possible. I’ve stabbed, shot, burned, run over, electrified and impaled the poor undead bastards - once I put a giant Lego mask on my head and jumped up and down on them while wearing a nappy.
It’s fair to say I feel pretty zombied out. But if there is one way, one final method of killing the undead that I haven’t tried yet, judging by this Gamescom trailer I’m sure it will be in Dead Island 2.
This is the first time we’ve seen in-game footage from former Spec Ops developer Yager’s open-world sequel, and it’s looking just as gore-filled and ridiculous as you’d expect. Just like in the original melee combat seems to be the focus, utilising absolutely any heavy object you can get your hands on, but there’s also beefy-looking shotgun to play with. Maybe the guns won’t handle quite so horribly this time.
Alongside the splatter there’s the reveal of the inevitable pre-order package; the Golden State Weapon Pack will net you a ‘Grinder’, which looks like a portable boat propeller, a katana and a ‘Homestrike’ mace.
Dead Island 2 hits PC and consoles in Spring 2015.
