Saints Row developer Volition is hiring 100 new employees, which will increase its roster by a third. They aren’t done there either.
The studio is also looking to remodel its Champaign, Illinois offices, with Gamesindistry.biz reporting that Volition is currently negotiating financial assistance from the city of Champaign to the tune of $200,000 to cover the work, along with $1,000 for each new employee hired.
Given the money that Volition’s office brings into to the city, it won’t be surprising if the company secures most if not all of that cash. Apparently the City Council will meet today to discuss the request. With newly refurbished offices and a team of 300, Volition would increase their profile further to become a major player in the industry.
Helps to have friends in high places, too. Illinois newspaper The News Gazette has got their hands on a memo suggesting that the push for government-funded improvement to the offices came from Koch Media, who acquired Volition back in January 2013 when THQ went the way of the dodo.
Regular Saints Row voice actor Jay Mohr revealed that he was working on a new game in the series with Volition last December. That’s almost certainly Saints Row 5, which will presumably take advantage of the increased power of this current generation of consoles.
