We’re used to delays, but it’s not often you see a game brought forward a week. Survival horror bloodfest The Evil Within will hit North America on October 14, rather than the previous date of October 21.
There’s no official confirmation that the European date will also be moved forward (from October 24 to to 17) but it seems likely. We’ll get back to on that as soon as publisher Bethesda clarifies the situation. UPDATE: Bethesda has confirmed to us that the European date has been moved forward as well, from October 24 to to 17.

The Evil Within is classic Resident Evil in all but name, a creepy Gothic horror with a daft plot that lets you carry guns but isn’t super keen on giving you any ammunition for them. There’s bafflingly convoluted puzzles, buckets of the red stuff and a variety of nasty things that want to do horrible things to you.
October is a busy month for survival horror, with both this and Alien: Isolation out within a couple of weeks of each other. The question is, do you want have all your limbs chewed off by zombies or your liver removed by an alien? Tough one.
