Atmospheric psychological horror/detective game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter now has a release date - it’s coming to PC this September 25, and you can pick it up on the game’s brand new website.
That’s not all. You can check out thirteen minutes of gameplay in a new trailer, complete with commentary from the development team at The Astronauts.
It’s looking lovely. The placid lake and Autumnal forest of Red Creek Valley is the setting for a murder mystery involving a missing youth, occult secrets and a mysterious supernatural power. Protagonist Paul Prospero, an ”occult-minded detective”, can both look for physical clues and peer into the world of the dead in his search for answers.
While Ethan Carter is nominally a horror game, it relies more on atmosphere and mood than jump scares and gore. Though judging by the video there will be at least some of the latter.
The game’s available on Steam or GOG for £14.99.
