Andrew Groen’s Kickstarter campaign for an EVE Online history book telling the greatest stories behind the first decade of the game has absolutely crushed its initial goal of $12,500, with the final donation level coming to a whopping $95,729.
I’m expecting each page to be printed on ancient Egyptian papyrus, with the calligraphy of each copy done individually by a secret order of monks with excellent handwriting.
In all seriousness, the concept of a history book studying events in a virtual world? Pretty awesome. ”I want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for pledging to this project,” writes an understandably chuffed Groen on the campaign blog. ”This book will be a much better product thanks to your excitement, passion, and generosity.”
”Remember: the hardcover deluxe version did not exist prior to this Kickstarter campaign. Your pledges are entirely to thank for that, and I can’t wait to get to work on creating the best book that I - and my new team - possibly can for you.”
I don’t even play the game and I’m intrigued. More news on the progress of the book as we get it.
