CD Projekt Red released the opening cinematic for its upcoming fantasy title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at the Golden Joystick awards over the weekend, and it’s a good one.
Things to look out for: a man performing a little amateur veterinary surgery on a horse in mid-gallop, and a very unconventional but admittedly terrifying use of a pet raven.
I admit, I’m not 100% up to scratch on The Witcher’s deeper story, but I think Geralt’s tracking the mysterious Yennifer here, a powerful sorceress who’s got some history with everyone’s favourite grey-haired monster slayer. She’s a pivotal character in the greater story, despite the fact we never met her in The Witcher 2. Don’t ask me who’s fighting who in the battle scenes here, though.
Incidentally, The Witcher 3 netted the ‘Most Wanted’ award at the Golden Joysticks. It’s due out next February on PC and current-gen consoles.
