Ubisoft Montreal’s ahistorical brawler For Honor was one of the most interesting titles to debut at this year’s E3. The studio has just released a developer dairy video showing off some behind-the-scenes footage, and revealing more about the initial concept that gave birth to the game.
Ubi Montreal’s excellently bearded creative director Jason Vandenberghe talks about his love of martial combat as “an art form”, and talks about players discovering what their “inner warrior” is like through their choice of the game’s three very different warrior factions – noble, cultured Knights, honourable Samurai and mayhem-loving Vikings.
He might occasionally get a bit carried away with talk about warriors, inner strength and honour and all that nonsense, but Vandenberghe is undeniably passionate about the game his team is making. His enthusiasm is infectious, and it does more to make me interested in For Honor than a hundred CGI trailers would.
For Honor is coming to PC and consoles, though we’re not sure when just yet.
