Get ready for some zany changes to your Rocket League games. The newest update announced last month for Psyonix’s over-the-top RC soccer experience has arrived, officially bringing mutators to the field of rocket-fueled football fun. And don’t worry about buying it. The update is free.
Many of the initial mutators on display are centered around the game ball. Beach Ball makes the ball slow and lightweight, giving it a ton of bounce where Pinball makes the ball small and very fast. Moonball lowers gravity on the whole field and gives an enormous boost to rockets where Timewarp slows players as they come within proximity of the ball. These settings are sure to play with your expectations and strategies of success in Exhibition and Private Matches. The “Mutator Mashup” online playlist has been added, allowing you to cycle through the different mutators and experience all of them.
Mutators aren’t the only new addition to the latest Rocket League Patch. New options have been implemented including new community flags, new antennas based on some hit games out now and forthcoming, and options such as the ability to toggle weather effects on and off. There are also a slew of bug fixes, UI changes and gameplay tweaks set on smoothing and boosting the Rocket League experience as a whole. There are also options to tweak the effects of many the mutators to create a custom experience for your matches.
The patch is available for download now. You can see a whole list of the patch notes here.
