While DICE has announced there’ll be no space-based battles in the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront, they do plan to let us get our X-Wing and TIE Fighter fix thanks to a new ‘Fighter Squadron’ game mode.
It features maps tailored to ”engage in huge Starfighter battles over canyons” for epic showdowns between Rebels and Imperials. The Millenium Falcon has been confirmed pilotable.
”…we have created new game modes and made new maps to cater to their specific experience. You could see a tiny snippet of this in our trailer where you saw the Fighter Squadron mode, where you engage in huge Starfighter battles over canyons big enough to be truly epic.”
It’s no surprise that more gameplay will be on show in June at E3 2015. We’ve already seen a few teasing glances of Fighter Squadron in the latest trailer from EA.
Star Wars: Battlefront releases on PC and console November 17th in the US, 20th in EU.
