Publisher Bandai Namco has revealed the final, real, true official, for definites release date for Slightly Mad Studios’ Projects Cars, its crowd-funded racer. After several lengthy delays, you’ll finally be able to get your hands on it on May 8.
Projects Cars was meant to be released last year, but Slightly Mad pushed it back to April, and then further back in April, and finally May, in order to get it properly buffed and polished.
When it’s released you’ll be able to enjoy Project Cars in 4K, or, if you’ve got a PC setup sharp enough to cut your eyeballs on, in glorious 12K. I’ve played the game a couple of times at preview events, and with everything whacked up to eleven it’s quite the looker. The rain and dynamic weather effects are perhaps the most impressive thing about the game, covering the tarmac and your helmet visor in a sheen of drizzle that impacts both your handling and your vision.
Last month Slightly Mad announced that Project Cars players would receive a free car each month, starting with the Lykan Hypersport, as a gesture of thanks for the fans’ patience in putting up with all those delays.
