Developer Fatshark’s Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide got a brief gameplay trailer at E3 today, and if you’ve ever wanted to hack a Skaven swarm into pieces, this is definitely the game for you.
Vermintide is a four-player co-op game in the same vein as Left 4 Dead, in which a rag-tag band of heroes (or as close as you get to that concept in the grim-dark world of Warhammer Fantasy) attempt to rid the city of Ubersreik of a Skaven infestation.
”We wanted the combat to be up close and personal and have created multiple systems to support this,” the team explained in a recent Q&A session. ”Since we feel that the most important aspect of melee combat is feedback, players will be able to decapitate their enemies in a variety of ways and blood will splatter on any surface it touches to make sure that the player really feels their attacks connecting with the target. This also heavily ties into the gritty aspect of the Warhammer universe which is something that we wanted to portray in the game.”
Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is out on PC and next-gen consoles this Fall.
