Loveable canine companion Dogmeat has been a big part of Fallout 4's impressive marketing campaign, leading fans to wonder whether he, like his Fallout 3 counterpart, could accidentally hop onto a landmine and be blasted into a thousand chunks of flesh.
Don't fret, dog lovers. Despite being pelted with laser-fire, whacked with sledge-hammers by angry super mutants, or caught in miniature nuclear explosions, Dogmeat can never die. He'll remain at your side all through the game, if you want him to.

Bethesda revealed the news in the tweet above. So no more reloading the game every five seconds when the four-legged idiot decides to jump face-first into a radscorpion's stingy bits. Praise the lord.
Fallout 4 is out on November 10 for PC and consoles, a damn sight earlier than anyone expected. Whether there will be other companions besides Dogmeat, and whether they will be invulnerable too, remains to be seen.
