Blizzard have today confirmed that when Hearthstone releases on Android and iOS smartphones by the end of the month, those versions will be able to cross play to play with PC, Mac and tablet users.
The confirmation comes from Eric Dodds, lead designer on the perilously entertaining card battler.
Speaking to GameSpot Dodds said “It will be your exact same account, so all your cards on tablet or PC will be available on your phone too. When you start a match on a phone, you could be playing someone on another phone, someone on a tablet, on a PC, who knows? It’s all one big ecosystem.”
Furthermore, Dodd remarked on the suggestion that Blizzard should combine the existing catalogue of Classic and CVG cards in its store by saying that the developer already has thoughts towards such an idea in the long term, “It’s certainly something that we’ve talked about a lot, asking what is our long-term plan for packs of cards. We don’t have anything planned right now, because at the moment it’s only two kinds of packs, but it’s certainly something that in the long term we’ll be looking at.”
So then, it looks like the pool of Hearthstone rookie-meat challengers will soon grow a lot bigger.
Fun times!
