Last week a ‘Slacker Backer’ campaign for Shenmue 3 launched, giving potential backers one more chance to donate a bucketload of cash for the development of the long-awaited adventure game.
What seems a little odd is that the PC isn’t listed among the available reward tiers, despite being confirmed in the original Kickstarter as a planned release platform. Developer Ys.net claims it’s “discussing the PC version with the related parties.”
It’s all been a bit confusing, but now the president of publisher Shibuya Productions, Cedric Biscay, has popped up to attempt to clarify things to PC Gamer:
”This (Slacker Backer) crowdfunding is a new campaign so we have to negotiate again with all the parts involved. That’s the reason why you cannot find PC the version yet, but we are confident to have it in the near future. Please remember that in the Kickstarter campaign, the PS4 physical version was not offered at the beginning.”
Administrative slowdown may have prevented the PC version from being listed in the new crowd-funding campaign, but Biscay claims that “it’s just a matter of time, I am very confident regarding the fact that the PC version will be added in the near future.”
The Shenmue 3 Slacker Backer campaign will run until December 31.
