One of the more curious omissions from Star Wars Battlefront was the lack of any wars among the stars. Space battles were something that the developer actually teased early in the year by mentioning Star Destroyers involved in dogfights.
When EA Dice posted a screenshot from Star Wars Battlefront on Twitter asking ”Have you seen better StarWarsBattlefront moments than these?”, the fan reaction was swift and sarcastic, along the lines of “yeah, space battles”.

Star Wars Battlefront already has the Fighter Squadron gameplay mode, in which up to 20 players engage in dogfights with AI controlled ships in the mix. Basically a team deathmatch mode, the first team to record 200 kills wins. However, all of these dogfights are planetary, above the surface of Hoth and other worlds.
However, EA Dice is focused on the land skirmishes first and foremost. As senior producer Sigurlina Ingvarsdotti stated, ”At the core, we’re an infantry game.”
The more cynical of gamers might posit that Electronic Arts and EA Dice are just whetting gamers appetites for a Space Battles DLC pack. We shall see.
